Ruby Gibson

December 20, 1909 — February 23, 2003

Services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 27, at First Baptist Church for Ruby Gibson of Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Gibson, 93, died Sunday, February 23, 2003 at her home. Rev. Rick Sullivan and Rev. Walt Isaacs will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Scott Steggs, Chris Gotcher, Larry Mobley, Paul Males, Pat Russ, and Bobby Savoie. Honorary pallbeaeres will be Kelly Jones, Dean Mobley, Sterling Isaacs, Lloyd Worley, Walter Lewis, and Michael Jones. Mrs. Gibson was born December 20, 1909 in Maysville, Oklahoma; the daughter of Charley H. Brendle and Mary Eddith Davis Brendle. On September 4, 1930 she was married to John Gibson in Stratford, Okla. They came from Oklahoma to Artesia in November of 1939. He preceded her in death July 26, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a grandson Kevin Webb; and by six brothers; and one sister. She was a homemaker and member of Centre Ave. Baptist Church. Survivors include sons Charles Gibson and wife Sheila of Lancaster, Calif. and Johnny Gibson of Artesia; daughters Edith Mae Mobley and husband Jay of Carlsbad, Joyce Jones and husband Ray of Artesia, Carolyn Gray of Artesia, Ellen Stoudt and husband Ronnie of Ontario, Calif., Darlene Savoie and husband Gene of Artesia, Shirley Males of Roswell, and Janie Russ and John Brewington of Roswell; sisters Norah Isaacs of Roswell, Barbara Worley of Roswell, and Ruth Lewis of Ada, Okla.; 20 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Vista Care Hospice Foundation, 611 N. Canal, Carlsbad, NM 88201.
