pMr. Salas, 85, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Heartland Nursing Center in Artesia.p
pFr. Martin Cornejo O.F.M. will officiate at the services with cremation to follow.p
pVisitation will be at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church Sunday beginning at 2:00 p.m. A rosary will be at church Sunday at 6:30 p.m.p
pRuben was born February 10, 1929 in Hondo, New Mexico the son of Jacob and Tomasita Salas. He was a long time Artesia resident.p
pOn February 12, 1949 he was married to Evangelina Solis in Alamogordo, N.M. She preceded him in death October 13, 1998. He was also preceded in death by his parents son Jake Salas two sisters and a brother.p
pRuben was a truck driver and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. He was also a Crusillista, and an Apostolado. He loved to fish and hunt and enjoyed working as a mechanic in his spare time.p
pSurvivors include his daughters Linda Martinez of St. Louis, Missouri, Christine Sheikh of Carlsbad, N.M., Sylvia Jimenez of Artesia, Armida Carrera of Artesia, Olga Fernandez of Artesia, and Bernice Caldera of Artesia son Ruben Salas, Jr. of Artesia 25 grandchildren 54 greatgrandchildren 8 greatgreatgrandchildren and a brother William Salas of Norwalk, California.p
