Royce Carter

Memorial services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 20, at Terpening Son Chapel for Bud Carter of Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Carter, 66, died Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at Artesia General Hospital Emergency Room. Rev. Gavin Vaughan will officate at the services. Cremation and services are under the direction of Terpening Son Mortuary. Honorary pallbearers will be Lonnie Archer and his beloved nephews. Mr. Carter was born July 27, 1942 in Roswell, New Mexico; the son of Warren Carter and Ella Sanders Carter. He served in the United States Army. On December 6, 1968 he was married to Glenda Porter in Artesia. He was a lifelong resident of the Artesia area. He was an OwnerOperator of Carter Texaco and was of the Nazarene denomination. Bud was preceded in death by his parents and a sister LaRae Brewton. Survivors include his wife Glenda Carter of the family home; daughter Cheryl Carter-Nassor and husband Kamar of Austin, Texas; sons Johnny Carter and wife Erika of Oceanside, California, and Jesse Carter of Austin; sister Mary Jo Brewton of the Nazarene Church Camp near Ruidoso, N.M.; brother Don Carter and wife Pat of Artesia; brothers-in-law Denny Brewton of Henderson, Nevada, and Richard Porter and wife Joanna of Washington; sisters-in-law Brenda Smith of Farmington, N.M., and Donna Goodson and husband Bill of Farmington; grandchildren Nissay Nassor, Hannah Nassor, Fayed Nassor, Royce Carter, Rory Carter, and Ryann Carter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
