Memorial services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 3, at the Artesia High School Auditorium for Roxie Jackson, 1502 Zydeco Place, Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Jackson, 54, died Tuesday, April 29, at Artesia General Hospital. Michael Joiner will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Don Canada, Crit Caton, Perry Conner, Michael Joiner, Al Deans, Lee Mallett, Dennis Maupin and Terry Maupin. Visitation at Terpening Son Mortuary will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday. Roxie was born April 28, 1954 in Clovis, New Mexico, the daughter of Clayton D. Fuchs and Aelanda Watts Fuchs. Her father preceded her in death in 1994. She graduated from Clovis High School in 1972 and was a 1976 graduate of Oklahoma Christian University. She taught for a year in Beaver, Oklahoma and came to Artesia in 1978 to be the High School Chorus director. On July 7, 1979 she was married to Ronnie Jackson in Sacramento, N.M. She left her position with the schools to raise her family and taught private voice lessons. She later returned to the public schools where she continued to teach music. She was an active member of Hermosa Drive Church of Christ; Artesia Arts Council; N.M. Music Educators Association; and was a member of booster clubs for football, basketball, chorus, and cheerleading. Survivors include her husband Ronnie Jackson of the family home; her mother Linda Fuchs of Artesia; children Ladd Jackson and wife Ashley of Los Angeles, Calif., Landon Jackson of Lubbock, Texas, and Chanda Jackson of the family home; siblings Darice Webb of Boliver, Missouri, Katrina Ward and husband Jon of Dallas, Texas, Kevan Fuchs and wife Pam of Midland, Texas, Keith Fuchs and wife Sheila of Seattle, Wash., Melinda Weast and husband Michael of Artesia, and Kelby Fuchs and wife Chris of San Diego, Calif.; and nieces and nephews; and great nieces and great nephews. Also surviving are her father-in-law and mother-in-law J.T. and Annie Jackson; and sisters-in-law Janis and Richard Champion, Rhonda and Sam Rich, and Camille and Milton Menefee. The family requests memorial contributions be made to a charity of choice.
