Services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 26, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church for Rosemary Evarts, Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Evarts, 80, died Saturday, January 22, 2005 in Artesia. Father Benedict Folger SS. CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Don Alam, A.A. Klein, Lex Klein, Felipe Guerrero, Danny Scott, and Joseph Hajek. A vigil service is also planned for 6:30 P.M. Tuesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Mrs. Evarts was born July 11, 1924 in Elgin, Illinois; the daughter of Michael J. Reidy and Adrian Gillen Reidy. She came from there to Artesia on November 1, 1945. On November 11, 1950 she was married to James R. Joe Evarts in Elgin. She worked from the City of Artesia for 38 years and retired as Mayor Ernest Thompson's secretary and the Deputy City Clerk. She was a longtime active member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and the Altar Society there. She was preceded in death by her parents; by an infant son Michael J. Evarts; and by brothers Paul Reidy and Ray Reidy. Survivors include her husband Joe Evarts of the family home; sons Steve Evarts and wife Marilyn of Clovis, N.M., Richard Evarts of Artesia, and John Evarts of Fort Wayne, Indiana; a brother Vince Reidy of North Brooks, Illinois; a sister Eileen Reidy of Roswell, N.M.; and by grandchildren Laura Evarts and Michael Evarts both of Clovis. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Altar Society at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 502 S. 9th St., Artesia, NM 88210.
