Rosalio Acosta

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, 10:00 a.m., August 9 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Rosalio Acosta of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Acosta died Friday, August 5, 2016 at his home.

Fr. Martin Cornejo O.F.M. will officiate at the services with burial at the Hagerman Cemetery in Hagerman, New Mexico. Pallbearers will be Israel Marquez, Manuel Marquez, Roberto Marquez, Pedro Martinez, Jose Marquez, and Martin Marquez. Honorary pallbearers will be Fabian Acosta, Jose Silvas, Jr., and Mario Sanchez.

Rosalio was born September 13, 1937 in Barrancos, Chihuahua, Mexico to Donaciano Acosta and Martha (Urias) Acosta. He moved to Artesia as a very young man.

He was married to Elisa Martinez who preceded him in death in 2009. He later was married to Fernanda Silvas who preceded him in death in 2010. He was also preceded in death by his parents; brother Candelario Acosta; and a granddaughter Lucero Rubio.

Rosalio was of the Catholic faith and attended Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. He was a longtime Artesia resident, worked as a farm laborer, and enjoyed listening to music.

Survivors include his daughters Emiteria Acosta of Roswell, N.M., Patricia Acosta of Odessa, TX, Ninfa Acosta of Dalhart, TX, and Corina Acosta of Odessa; sons Fabian Acosta of Roswell, and a step-son Jose Silvas, Sr.; sisters Manuela Marcos and Santos Yrigollen both of Artesia; brothers Domingo Acosta, Merejildo Acosta, and Jose Acosta all of Artesia; 21 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
