Rosa Rocha

Services are scheduled at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, April 25, at Our Lady of Grace Church for Rosa da Gloria Rocha, 2101 W. Richey Ave., Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Rocha, 84, died Tuesday, April 23, 2002 at Artesia General Hospital in Artesia. Fr. Virgilio Flores will officiate at the services with burial at Hilmar District Cemetery in Hilmar, California. Pallbearers will be Joe E. Borges, David Borges, Frank Borges, Kevin Deniz, Darin Deniz and Bryan Brindeiro. Mrs. Rocha was born March 14, 1918 in the Azores Islands, Portugal; the daughter of Francisco Machado Avila and Ermelinda da ConceicaoRochaAvila. On April 27, 1949 she was married to Amancio M. Rocha in Azores, Portugal. He preceded her in death on Sept. 9,1999. She came to Artesia in Dec. 1999 from Turlock, Calif. She was a homemaker and member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Zilda Frances Rocha, 4 sisters and 3 brothers. Survivors include daughters Maria R. Borges of Artesia, Laurentina L. Deniz of Hilmar, Zilda F. Brindeiro of Artesia; sister Sophia Meneses of Azores; 9 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. Services will also be conducted by Whitehurst-Norton-Diaz Funeral Home in Turlock, California at a later date.
