Rosa Lara

Memorial services are scheduled at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 13, at Terpening Son Chapel for Rosa Leal Lara, 1807 W. Booker Ave., Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Lara, 62, died Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at Artesia General Hospital. Pastor Gary Smith will officiate at the services. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening Son Mortuary. Mrs. Lara was born Sept. 27, 1944 in Raymondville, Texas; the daughter of Ismael Leal and Rosa Cano Leal. She came to Artesia in 1957 from Raymondville, Texas. In 1960 she was married to Carlos Lara Jr. in Carlsbad, N.M. He preceded her in death Jan. 17, 1982. She was a housewife. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by 2 brothers, and 2 sisters. Survivors include son Carlos Lara of Rifle, Colorado; daughters Cindy Lara of Artesia, Cathy Lara of Artesia, and Christina Rodriguez of Artesia; brothers Raul Leal of Harlingen, Texas, and Robert Leal of Roswell, N.M.; sisters Elvira Fonseca of Lyford, Texas, Aurora Gomez of Fresno, Calif., and Lupe Carrasco of Artesia; and 9 grandchildren.
