Memorial graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Woodbine Cemetery for Ronald (Ron) W. Lanning of Artesia, New Mexico. Ron, 70, died December 12, 2019 in Artesia. Rev. Monty Leavell of First United Methodist Church will officiate at the services. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Ron was born March 31, 1949 in Chillicothe, Missouri, the son of John Lanning and Kathryn (Jackson) Lanning. He graduated from Artesia High School in 1967 and New Mexico State University in 1973 with a BS in Agriculture. After farming for a few years, Ron began a 33-year career as a Petroleum Landman and retired as Land Manager for Mack Energy Corporation in 2011.

Ron married Saundra “Sandi” Lowe in Albuquerque, N.M. on December 29, 1973. She preceded him in death on April 28, 2016. He was also preceded in death by a son Roy Lanning.

Ron is survived by his parents of Artesia; son Travis Lanning and wife Courtney, grandson Jackson Lanning and granddaughter Harper Lanning all of Artesia; daughter-in-law Jill Lanning and granddaughters Madison Lanning and Reghan Lanning all of Chandler, Arizona; brothers Rick Lanning and wife Cindy of Midland, TX; David Lanning and wife Beverlee of Roswell, NM; and Jerry Lanning and wife Debbie of Odessa, TX.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund, PO Box 1492, Artesia, NM 88211-1492.
