Services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Roman Galindo Sanchez of Artesia, New Mexico.
Mr. Sanchez, 97, died Monday, August 22, 2011 at his home.
Fr. Brian Guerrini, SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jesus Olivas, Grace Rodriguez, Joey Catano, Simon Chavez, Neto Rodriguez, and Thomas C. Martinez. Honorary pallbearer will be Juan Chavez.
Visitation will be at Our Lady of Grace Thursday beginning at 2:00 p.m. A rosary will be at church Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
Roman was born June 4, 1914 in Shafter, Texas the son of Antonio Sanchez and Felicita Galindo Sanchez. He came to Artesia in 1950 from Hope, N.M. where he worked at the Flying H New Mexico breaking horses.
In June of 1955 he was married to Anita Sanchez in Artesia.
He later worked as a carpenter and was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Roman was preceded in death by his first two wifes Estella and Petra Bernard sons Samuel Sanchez, Augustine Sanchez, Ramond Bernard, and Daniel Padilla and some grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Anita Sanchez of the family home who cared for him until his passing son Ernesto Sanchez of Wainae, Hawaii daughters Felicita Chavez of Lubbock, Texas, Flora Lopez of Lubbock, Francisca Ybarra of Dallas, Texas, Mary Olivas of Hanford, California, Nellie Garcia of Stockton, California, Nancy Padilla of Artesia, Yvonne Allensworth of Lakewood, Colorado, and Christina S. Martinez of Carlsbad, N.M. 50 grandchildren 65 greatgrandchildren and a life long friend Juan Chavez.
