Services are scheduled for 11 am Friday, September 16 at House of Worship in Artesia for Roman Gabriel Barrera of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Roman, 41, died on September 7, 2022 in Albuquerque.
Rudy Melendrez will officiate at the services. Burial will follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Javier Jimenez, Jonah Jimenez, Cruz Corse, Miguel Cortez, Michael DeHoyos, and Martin Martos. Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary from 2 to 6 pm on Thursday.
Roman was born on February 26, 1981 in Artesia; the son of Lionel H. Barrera and Velma Olguin.
Gabe enjoyed spending his time with family making them laugh with his silly jokes and his contagious laugh. He spent his days working on word search puzzles, clipping coupons and underlining newspapers all while listening to Country music. He also loved looking through pictures his aunt Nini sent him regularly. Gabe made impressionable lifelong memories with people who took the time to know him. He had an unforgettable smile and a heart of gold.
He was preceded in death by his grandmothers Helen Olguin, and Ramona Barrera, and by his cousin Isaiah DeHoyos.
Survivors include his mother Velma Olguin; his father Lionel Barrera; sisters Valerie Corse and Genevieve Barrera; a nephew Cruz Corse; nieces Anneliese Corse and Brooklyn Corse; aunts Joann Olguin, Yolanda DeHoyos, Cynthia Linnear, Donna Olguin and Delma Barrera; an uncle Eliseo Olguin; grandfather Eliseo Olguin Sr.; and also by numerous cousins.
