Roma Worley

Graveside services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22 at Twin Oaks Memorial Park for former longtime Artesia resident Roma Lois Worley of Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Mrs. Worley, 92, died Tuesday, December 14, 2010 in Las Cruces.

Rev. Rick Sullivan will officiate at the services. Visitation at Terpening Son Mortuary will begin at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday.

Roma was born January 29, 1918 in Hope, New Mexico the daughter of Marcus Ervin Wathen and Florence Elizabeth Keller Wathen. She was a lifelong Artesia area resident.

On Oct. 29, 1939 she was married to Mervon Leslie Worley in Roswell, N.M. He preceded her in death Feb. 16, 2001.

She attended Cornerstone Fellowship in Artesia and was a lifetime member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority.

During her younger years, she loved to bowl and was active in city leagues. She loved all of the farmers who would come in to N W Equipment to buy parts from her. In her later years after moving to Las Cruces in August of 2004 to be closer to family, she enjoyed all of the social activities that were available in her assisted living facility, The Village at Northrise, but her favorite of course was bingo.

Survivors include a sister Marie Barton of Roswell, N.M. grandchildren Karl Foster and wife Jane of Flower Mound, Texas and Elissa Ruddick and husband Allen of Las Cruces greatgrandchildren Randy Ruddick and wife Melissa of Slidell, La., Jamie Costa and husband Marco of Las Cruces, and Mason, Molly, and Karson Foster of Flower Mound greatgreatgrandchildren Hailey, Drew, and Luke Ruddick of Slidell and soninlaw William Foster of Las Cruces.

Now, she is reunited with the kindest man to walk this earth, her husband Mervon and their one and only daughter, an angel that God loaned to us all, Flo Florence. She was also preceded in death by sisters Nadine Jones and Julia Lovett.
