Roberto Aguilar, Sr.

Graveside services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 12, at Woodbine Cemetery for Roberto C. Aguilar, Sr. of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Aguilar, 85, died Monday, August 8, 2011.

Pastor Abelardo Bolanos will officiate at the services. Pallbearers will be Fabian Aguilar, Christopher Aguilar, Francisco Sanchez, Estevan Franklin, Marlon Thompson, and Rene Aguilar.

Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Thursday beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Roberto was born May 27, 1926 in Sierra Blanca, Texas the son of Pedro Aguilar and Pabla Galindo Aguilar.

He served his country in the United States Army during World War II.

In August of 1949 he was married to Esther Mendez in Presidio, Texas. He came to Artesia in 1961 from El Paso, Texas.

He was a farm laborer with the N.M. State University and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.

Roberto was preceded in death by his parents sons Hector Aguilar and Jesus Aguilar grandsons Demetrius Aguilar, Robert Lee Aguilar, Brandon Aguilar, and Anthony Aguilar brother Pedro Aguilar, Jr. and a sister Pauline Aguilar.

Survivors include his wife Esther Aguilar of Artesia sons Robert Aguilar and wife Elidia of Artesia, Raymond Aguilar of Albuquerque, N.M., Octavio Aguilar of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Arturo Aguilar of Roswell, N.M., and Peter Aguilar of Albuquerque daughters Hilda AguilarSanchez and husband Frank of Roswell, Esther Aguilar of Roswell, and Olivia Franklin and husband Greg of Albuquerque brother Samuel Aguilar of El Paso, Texas sisters Maria Gonzales of Casa Grande, Arizona, Consuelo Chavarria of Fresno, California, Christina Maestas of El Paso and Dora Luz Augostine of El Paso 14 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren.
