Roberta Haynes

Memorial graveside services are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 26, at Woodbine Cemetery for longtime Artesia resident Roberta Y. Haynes of Lubbock, Texas. Roberta Marie Yeats Haynes, 97, died Thursday, May 17, 2007 in Lubbock. Rev. Paul Dean Duerksen will officiate at the services. A gathering will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Saturday at 10:00 a.m. for a time to greet friends and relatives. Cremation has taken place under the direction of White Funeral Home in Lubbock. Mrs. Haynes was born on June 4, 1909 in Winters, Texas; the daughter of Robert and Pearl Speer Yeats. Roberta married Owen Haynes on June 11, 1932 in Carrizo Springs, Texas. They later moved to Artesia. Owen preceded her in death on April 17, 1995. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Nell Forbes. Mrs. Haynes was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Artesia where she served as the church secretary for many years, and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was also a homemaker; was an avid reader; loved crafts; ceramics, and embroidery; and enjoyed playing bridge with her husband. Survivors include her son Robert Haynes of Lubbock; grandchildren Deborah Frankhouser and husband Eric of Austin, Texas, and Robert Nelson Haynes of Lubbock; great-grandchild Cash Nelson Frankhouser; and brother Vestal L.
