Robert Parsons

Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 14, at West Main Baptist Church for Robert A. Parsons of Artesia, New Mexico. PMr. Parsons, 82, died Friday, April 11, 2008 at Artesia General Hospital. PJason Kraft will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be friends of the family from his church. PNo public viewing or visitation is scheduled. PMr. Parsons was born May 5, 1925 in Dallas, Texas; the son of Eugene V. Parsons and Edna Singleton Parsons. POn January 20, 1950 he was married to Doris Freeman in Hobbs, N.M. They came to Artesia in October of 1965 from Denver City, Texas. She preceded him in death May 20, 2005. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and a brother. PHe served in the United States Navy during WW II. PRobert started working for Plymouth Oil in 1947 which was later bought by Marathon Gas Plant. He worked there for 37 years before retiring in 1984. His last position held was an operator. He was also a member of West Main Baptist Church, and an avid bowler.
Survivors include his sons Robert Parsons and wife Kelly of Artesia, Ed Parsons and wife Susie of Artesia, and Jim Parsons of Artesia; sisters Ruth Moody of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Martha Burnett of Denver City, Texas; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
