Robert Oetjens

Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 24, at San Jose Catholic Church in Carlsbad, N.M. for Robert Oetjens, Lakewood, New Mexico.

Mr. Oetjens, 88, died Friday, March 19, 2010 at Artesia General Hospital in Artesia, New Mexico.

Father Valentine will officiate at the services with burial at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, Illinois at a later date.

Mr. Oetjens was born December 15, 1921 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Ernest Louis Oetjens and Iza Dunbar Oetjens.

On July 5, 1940 he was married to Marjorie Joan Bird in Chicago, Illinois. He came to Artesia in 1993. She preceded him in death January 7, 1994.
He served in the United States Army during World War II.

He was a printer for RR Donnelly Printing Co. He was a member of San Jose Catholic Church in Carlsbad, Escapees since 1983, and the Elks Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son James Oetjens, 2 brothers and 3 grandchildren.

Survivors include longtime companion Cass Davis sons Ronald Oetjens and wife Joyce, Larry Oetjens and wife Angela, Robert Oetjens and wife Linda, and Greg Oetjens daughter Peggy Eaton and husband John sisterinlaw Louise Heston 13 grandchildren and 25 greatgrandchildren.
