Robert Ellis

A celebration of Robert's life will be at Centre Ave Baptist Church at 10:00 on September 1, 2018 (his 83rd birthday) with Rev. Michael Elliot, Rev. G. Eric Kaiser and Bro. Dennis Davis officiating with graveside service to be held at a later date at Woodbine Cemetery.

Robert had been working almost 50 years for his heavenly reward and on August 27, 2018 he met his precious Savior and received his reward. Robert started his worldly journey on September 1, 1935 to George Fredrick and Dorothy (Davis) Ellis in Rutherford, Tennessee.

He was married to Gladys Irine Pinson on October 8, 1955. One of Robert's greatest accomplishments was a husband, father to 5 children, grandfather to 15, and great-grandfather to 22. Robert was a retired Electronic Technician and never really retired from preaching the Gospel preaching wherever and whenever he could. He loved fishing at any lake, river or hole that had water and loved to take his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren hunting when he could.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, three brother-n-laws Walter Robert Pinson, M.T. (Pinky) Pinson and Charles Ted Pinson, daughter Donna Denine Barber, and grandson D. Robert-Martin Harvey.

He is survived by his daughter Diana K. Harvey husband Danny, daughter Debbra Garrett husband Kenny, of Artesia, N.M. son Robert W. Ellis Jr. wife Tonya of Roswell, N.M., Ricky Ellis wife Linda of Artesia, N.M. cousin/brother-n-law Bob Davis wife Onie, sister-n-law Katy Pollock husband Jim, brother-n-law Willie Pinson wife Denise and sister-n-law LaRue Pinson all of Artesia, N.M. Grandchildren: Kortney Garrett wife Megan of Lubbock, TX, Kandice Barley husband Wesley of Artesia, Joshua Garrett wife Tammy of Lubbock, TX, Eric Kaiser wife Erica of Plains, TX, Kenzie Taylor husband Brandt of Lubbock, TX, Nathan Harvey of Artesia NM, Kelsie Sanchez husband Jesus of Lubbock, TX, Brenden Harvey wife Heather of Artesia, NM, Jehra Hedgecock of Carlsbad, NM, Casey Ellis and Geno Ellis of Artesia, NM.
