Mr. Ferguson, 70, died on June 29, 2021 in the comfort of his home.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary. The family will gather at a private graveside service.
Robert, known to his friends and family as "Bobby", was born on March 10, 1951 in Artesia; the son of Robert Earl Ferguson I and Rosemary Martin Ferguson.
He was married to Sharon Ferguson and they had two children. He was later married to Stephanie McQuay and they had one child.
He was a longtime resident of Artesia. He worked with his Father at Bob Ferguson Inc. Insurance and Real Estate. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, looking for arrowheads, Pecos diamonds, and Indian artifacts. Bobby was an avid reader and enjoyed discussing critiquing, and recommending books to his friends and family. Bobby was a lifetime resident of Artesia and loved his hometown and Artesia Bulldogs sports. He was a member of the 1969 State Football Championship team.
He was preceded in death by his brother Michael and their father.
Survivors include his mother Rosemary Ferguson; a son James Michael Ferguson of Gainesville, Georgia; daughters Shannon Ferguson of Austin, Texas and McKayla Morrison of Diana, Texas; a brother James Ray Ferguson of Las Cruces, NM; sisters Candace Rieger of New Braunfels, Texas, and Debby Hill of Mesilla Park, NM; five grandchildren Asher, Avery, Luke, Noah and Caleb.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Artesia Public Library.
