Mr. Robert Lee Bob Collins, Jr., age 77, a resident of Auburndale, Florida passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at the Tampa General Hospital due to Heart Failure. Mr. Collins was born June 8, 1931 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Robert Lee Collins, Sr. and Mary Frances White Collins. Bob was a resident of Polk County since 1966 coming from Palatka, Florida. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Auburndale, a United States Navy Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict, he enjoyed reading and traveling. Bob and his wife Doris traveled to over 50 Foreign Countries, over 30 Islands and all but 2 United States. Bob retired 14 years ago as a Community College Finance Officer St. Johns Community College, St. Petersburg Junior College, Lake City Junior College and Chipola Community College in Marianna. He was a member of the Winter Haven Moose Lodge, Winter Haven American Legion, Lakeland Elks Lodge, Sons of the American Revolution SAR, a Boy Scout, Member of Civil Air Patrol CAP, and a member of the Financial Officers of Florida. Bob also loved to hunt. He was preceded in death by his parents. Bob is survived by his loving family; his wife of 53 years Doris Collins of Auburndale, FL; son Robert Lee Collins III and wife Marcie of Auburndale, FL; 2 grandchildren Eric Collins and wife Tiana of Auburndale, FL and Nicole Albritton and husband Chris of Cocoa Beach, FL; 3 great-grandchildren Autumn, Eric Jr., and Christopher. The family requests that those so desiring may make a donation in Bobs name to the SPCA, 5850 Brannen Road South, Lakeland, FL 33813. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2009 at Woodbine Cemetery.
