Robert Byrd

Robert Lowell (Bob) Byrd passed away on December 27th 2023 in his home surrounded by family.

Bob was born on July 7th 1949 in Eunice, NM, to Robert Archie and Bertha Byrd. On June 26th 1970 he married Cathy (Phillips) Byrd in Artesia.

Bob worked in the oilfield as a consultant for 20+ years, retiring in 2012. He was very intelligent, hard working and loved helping people, always whistling while he worked. He loved being in the mountains, hunting and camping and wood working in his shop.

Bob had a great sense of humor and loved spending time with family. One of his favorite things to do was "taste" lick his family when you were least expecting it.

He is preceded in death by both parents, Archie & Bertha Byrd and his older brother Wesley Dee Byrd.

He is survived by his wife Cathy Byrd of 53 years, daughters Jodie Atwood and husband Daniel Atwood of Casper, WY, Christie McKnight and husband Lee McKnight Jr. of Casper, WY, and Brandie Byrd of Artesia, NM, 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Loved by family and many friends and will be greatly missed by all.

There will be a celebration of life gathering on Saturday December 30th @ 2 PM at 35 Sun Country Drive, Artesia, NM.
