Robbie Smith

Services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, May 16 at Faith Baptist Church for Robbie Shawn Smith, 11246 Lovington Highway, Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Smith, 35, died Monday, May 13, 2002 at his home. Rev. Michael Elliott will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Mark Brewer, Jim Calloway, Rusty Hamilton, Ronnie Wilbanks, Eric Smith and Tom Harvey. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Smith and all other co-workers and close friends. Mr. Smith was born July 9, 1966 in Artesia; the son of George Ronald Smith and Frances Cates Smith. He was a dispatcher for Wilbanks Trucking and member of Faith Baptist. He was also a member of PRCA-Steer Wrestling, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and was an avid bowler, bowhunter and softball player. He was preceded in death by his step-father G. E. Jack Smith and by his grandfather Harold Cates. Survivors include his mother Fran Bratcher and husband Bob of Artesia; brothers Shay Smith and wife Caire of Artesia, Shane Smith and wife Melissa of Artesia and Bobby Smith and wife Rene of Zwolle, Louisiana; his grandmother Wanda Cates of Artesia; an uncle Eugene Cates of Artesia; nephews Eric Smith, Jeff Smith and Colby Smith; and a niece Hannah Hughes.
