Rita Weatherspoon

No local services are scheduled for Rita B. Weatherspoon, 2706 W. Grand Ave., Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Weatherspoon, 78, died Thursday, October 23, 2003 at Artesia General Hospital. Cremation has taken place under direction of Terpening Son Mortuary. Mrs. Weatherspoon was born January 30, 1925 in Nashua, New Hampshire; the daughter of Joseph E. Houde and Marie Louise Jalbert Houde. On Aug. 20, 1955 she was married to W.E. Weatherspoon in Truth or Consequences,New Mexico. She came to Artesia in July 1969. She was a retired Physical Therapist and member of Eddy Co. Extension Club, and Hospital Auxiliary Club. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Roger Houde. Survivors include husband W.E. Weatherspoon of Artesia; son Jon Weatherspoon of Louisiana; daughters Mary Lou Weatherspoon of Artesia, and Laurie Abbey of Artesia; grandchildren Dyann L. Schilling, Lt., USAF of Oklahoma, and JoAnn Prince of Missouri; great-grandchild Logan W. Prince of Missouri.
