Rita Tarbet

Services are scheduled for 10 am Saturday, September 23, at Hermosa Church of Christ  for Rita Faye Tarbet of Artesia, New Mexico.

Rita Faye (Turner) Tarbet passed away peacefully in the early hours of September 20th 2023 at the age of 81. Rita was born December 19, 1941 in Clovis, NM. She is preceded in death by her father Louie Turner, her mother Helen Howard Turner, her sister Carla May Flok. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Lynn Tarbet, sons Gary and Jerrell, daughter-in-law Yvonne, grandchildren Bryce Tarbet and wife Alyssa, and Quynten Tarbet, and her niece Carlene Karow and nephew Felix Flok, and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. 

Rita and Lynn were married on August 2, 1963 in Texico, NM.

Rita was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She attended Hermosa Church of Christ  since moving to Artesia, NM. She loved traveling, pets, and helping others. She worked a short period of time for Palace Drug Store and R&B Blossom Shop.

Year after year

Share dinner, fellowship, and prayer

Comfortable in the solid predictable routine

All the while knowing that someday

You must say goodbye

When that sad and inevitable time comes to past

You start to remembering the times you've shared

And realize how little you know of their yesteryear

The story is there in plain sight

The ease in which they sit side by side

No need to say much

A shared lifetime binds them together

Love and respect shown more in deed than words

Care worn hands a united stance

Says so much on second glance

A man of few words

His lady filled in the gaps

They built their life on love and faith

Facing hardships hand in hand

Keeping their focus on the grander plan

Two parts of one soul

How will he go on

Now that she has reached her ultimate goal

Rita will always be

In every snazzy hat I see

Her love will shine in every tear

Sliding down her Lynns' stoic cheek

She will be remembered by

her empty place by his side

I find comfort in knowing

Exactly where she is going

When Lynn's turn to follow her there

I find peace in knowing they will be joined

Once more a perfect pair
