Rita Leachman

Memorial Services is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 1, at Terpening & Son Chapel for Rita F. Leachman of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Leachman, 68, died Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at her home.

Rev. Wesley Byrd will officiate at the services.

Rita was born February 29, 1948 in Artesia to Charles Thomas Long and Mildred (Adams) Long. She was a long time Artesia resident after moving back to Artesia in 1986 from Oklahoma.

In 1980 she was married to James Leachman. He preceded her in death on November 13, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother Jerry Long.

Rita was a homemaker and also worked as a secretary for J.W. Drilling. She enjoyed dancing and was a member of the Artesia Senior Center. Her love was her family and her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter Tonya Teel and husband Dustin of Lovington, N.M.; son Adam Leachman of Artesia; sister Joyce Byrd of Enid, Oklahoma; brothers Eddie Long of Enid, Joe Tom Long of California, and Charlie Long of Oklahoma; grandchildren Lauren Belle Teel and Nolan Teel of Lovington.
