Rita Dominguez

Funeral services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 19, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Rita Brizeno Dominguez of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Dominguez, 80, died Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at her home.

Fr. Martin Valejo will officiate at the services with cremation to take place following the services under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary Monday, April 18 beginning at 10:00 a.m. A rosary will be at Our Lady of Grace Monday at 6:30 p.m.

Rita was born May 22, 1935 in Artesia to Florencio Brizeno and Jesus (Cardenas) Brizeno. She was a lifelong Artesia resident.

In January of 1950 she was married to Jerry Mendoza Dominguez in Carlsbad, N.M. He preceded her in death on January 15, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son David Dominguez; grandson Brian Dominguez; son-in-law Daniel Alcocer, II; and numerous siblings.

Rita was a homemaker and enjoyed collecting things. She loved to spend time with her family and friends serving them by fixing wonderful meals. She was a great cook.

She is survived by her daughters Deborah A. Dominguez of Artesia, Diane Spanfield and husband Frank of Perris, CA, Dora Dominguez of Artesia, and Delfina Dominguez of Garden Grove, CA; sons Daniel Dominguez and Domingo Dominguez both of Artesia; 4 sisters; 3 brothers; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
