Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, at Trinity Temple Assembly for Rita Rodriguez Chavez of Artesia, New Mexico.
Mrs. Chavez, 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, March 16, 2013, to walk his golden streets as she always dreamed.
Bobby Argo will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Rudy Florez, Dickie Ramirez, Danny Ramirez, Lanny Mahan, Dean Molinar, Luis Valdez, and Ramon Cruz,.
The family will be receiving friends at Trinity Temple Wednesday at 9:00 a.m.
Rita was born August 6, 1920 in Lakewood, New Mexico the daughter of Cristobal Rodriguez and Francisca Dominguez Rodriguez. She was a lifelong Artesia area resident.
She was married to Juan F. Chavez for 64 wonderful loving years.
Rita worked many years for Rex and John Gates families housekeeping and cooking for them. She then worked for Artesia General Hospital for 30 years in different departments. Her most memorable was in the nursery when the Segura quadruplets were born. Rita was a member of Trinity Temple. She loved her church family very much. She was also a member of the Hospital Auxilary and the Womens American Legion.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents son Luis Florez brothers Luis Rodriguez who died as a POW in the Battan Death March, Frank Rodriguez, Jose Rodriguez sister Eva Rodriguez grandson Timothy Ramirez in April of 2010 and soninlaw Carlos Molinar.
Survivors include her husband Juan Chavez of the family home son Fred Florez and wife Mickey of Artesia daughters Margaret Molinar of Lockney, Texas, Gloria Ramirez and husband Billy of Albuquerque, N.M., Juanita Hernandez and husband Pete of Artesia, and Marina Mahan of Roswell, N.M. 18 grandchildren 49 greatgrandchildren and 61 greatgreatgrandchildren.
