Ricky Merrick

Rick Merrick, 64, of Timberon NM, passed away January 23, 2022.

Rick was born to the late Elaine Griffey and Rudolph Espinoza, July 18, 1957, in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He joined the Army in 1982. Rick had many passions in life. If you ever got a chance to listen to him play his drums you were in for a treat (WIPE OUT!). He was very involved in the protection of the forest in both Otero and Lincoln counties and was the Rural Community Forester for the South Central Mountain RC&D. Rick was a member of the Timberon Volunteer Fire Department for 24 years and the Fire Chief for 5 years.

Rick married Patricia Luber, on December 18, 1982 in South Sioux City, Iowa. They enjoyed 36 wonderful years together. Rick is survived by this Son, Zach (Christina) Merrick and grandson Kaydon Merrick of Grand Junction, Co. Daughter Ashley Lard (Jeff Parker) and grandson Kaleb Lard of Tularosa, NM. Daughter Brittany (Robert) Sealey and granddaughter Elly Sealey of Minot, ND. Brother Robert Bailey of Florence, MT. Sister Robin Espinoza of Florence, MT. And a host of nieces and nephews. Rick was predeceased by his mother, father, brother Randy Merrick, and wife Patricia Merrick.

As a family we would also like to say a special thank you to Maria Vasquez for all the support and care she gave to Rick over the last two years, we really appreciate it!

At this time there are no services planned but will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations could be made to Ashley Lard to distribute for expenses.
