Richard Steed

Services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 12, at Terpening & Son Chapel for Richard Lewis Steed of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Steed, 61, died Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas.

Tony Pennington will officiate at the services. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Richard was born June 7, 1953 in Artesia, NM; the son of Sam Cohen Steed and Inez (Standard) Steed. He was a longtime area resident.

On June 21, 1973 he was married to Deedee Martin in Artesia, NM.

He was a truck driver for Wilbanks Trucking. He loved to hunt and fish, do woodcarving and really enjoyed life.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife Deedee Steed of Artesia; sons Michael Steed of Artesia and Jason Steed of Artesia; brothers Floyd Steed of Artesia and Joe Steed of Hagerman, NM; sister Judy Davis of Artesia; grandchildren Logan Steed, Richard Steed and Alyssa Steed.
