Services will be held at Harvest Fellowship, 2307 W Main, Artesia, on August 14th, 2017 at 2:00p.m. for Richard Wayne Pierce of Artesia, New Mexico.
Mr. Pierce, 69, returned to be with his Lord on August 9th, 2017 surrounded by his family and caregiver Pricilla Munoz.
Ronnie Williams will officiate at the services with cremation to follow. Pallbearers will be Jim Riggs, Manuel Delgado, Ronnie Wilbanks, Bill Carpenter, Laramie Rollins, Gunnar Shearman, Phillip Baumgardner, Wimp Fine, Derrick Edwards, Rodney Standard, Kevin Wilson, and Lupe Armandez.
Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary Sunday from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Richard was born to Richard and Faye Pierce on March 14th,1948 in Kermit TX. He moved to Artesia during his freshman year of high school and later graduated from AHS in 1967. He worked for Bristow Pump Company before starting a backhoe business, R&R Backhoe Services, with Ronnie Wilbanks, after which, he worked for L&E Services as a backhoe operator. Richard's life passion for operating a backhoe would later change to owning/operating a homemade soda wagon wherein he garnered the nickname "Soda Man".
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Janie Urban, and brother Arthur Ray Mosley.
He is survived by his two daughters Tammy Neel and husband John of Artesia and Debbie Pierce and companion Cully Hawkins of Artesia;, their mother Vickie Sherrell and husband Billy of Artesia; grandchildren Dalaci Baumgardner and husband Phillip, Laramie Rollins and wife Marie, T'Naya Edwards and husband Derrick, Brianna Neel, Gunnar Shearman, Shelby Shearman, Jarad Neel and wife Hailey, and Scott Neel; seven great-grandchildren; siblings Melvin Mosley, Lonnie Pierce, Vanda Lockhart, Delores Mansell, Shirley Simons, Wilma Brannan, and Frankie Priest.
Donations can be given to Lakeview Christian Hospice in Honor of Richard Pierce.
