Richard Artrip

Memorial services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 15, at Faith Baptist Church for Richard L. Artrip, 407 W. Chisum Ave., Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Artrip, 77, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Artesia Good Samaritan Center. Rev. Michael Elliot will officiate at the services. Burial has taken place at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Mr. Artrip was born May 26, 1930 in Huntington, W. Virginia; the son of Stanley Artrip and Nevada Ferguson Artrip. On March 18, 1965 he was married to Dorothy Hinshaw in Roswell, N.M. He came to Artesia in late 1950's from W. Virginia. He was a greeter at K-Mart and charter member of Faith Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife Dorothy Artrip of the family home; sons Richard E. Artrip of Lakewood, N.M., Robert Artrip of Las Cruces, N.M., and Rev. John Hinze of Carlsbad, N.M.; daughters Peggy Artrip of Artesia, and Deborah LeBouef of Lubbock, Texas; brothers James Artrip of Artesia, Charles Artrip of Huntington, and Elisha Artrip of Huntington; sister Thelma White of Brownwood, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. The family reqests memorial contributions be made to the Faith Baptist Church Building Fund, 401 S. 20th St., Artesia, NM 88210.
