Known as Papoo to his grandchildren and Mr. C to others, Richard truly made a name for himself by being such a loving, selfless and humble man. He touched the lives of many whether it be at home, at work, or on the softball fields. He was know at home as a great dad and husband, at work as a hard working and dedicated employee and at the softball fields as a respected teammate and awesome coach. Many people admired him for his athleticism and he inspired many young athletes. He loved his wife and he loved his kids. His pride and joy were his grandkids and watching them continue to embrace the love and traditions set forth by their late grandma. When he was not following around his grandkids, he enjoyed bike rides with his friends, fishing, and hunting. The best advice he left for his kids was to "let your name speak for itself". He certainly lived up to his.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Theresa Cardenas and a brother Raymond Cardenas.

Survivors include a son Richard Ray Cardenas and wife Nicole; a daughter Amy Gomez; a brother Alex Berdoza; sisters Mary Lou Sanchez and Christine Garrett and husband Will; grandchildren Alijah Ray Gomez, Ryan Nicolas Gomez, Drew Zachary Gomez and Carolina Mikayla Cardenas.
