Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24, at Our Lady of Grace Church for Refugio Alvarado of Artesia.
Mr. Alvarado, 37, died Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Artesia General Hospital in Artesia, New Mexico.
Deacon Richard Rodriguez will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Javier Florez, Brook Navarette, Travis Wilkinson "Bubba", Omar Pando, Rigo Alvarado and Joel Mijares.
A Rosary will be held on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at the church.
Refugio was born December 25, 1977 in Denver, Colorado; the son of Jose Alvarado and Maria (Torres) Alvarado. He was a longtime area resident.
On May 2, 1998 he was married to Christina Juarez in Carlsbad, NM.
He was a operator at Oxy Gas Plant and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Refugio enjoyed spending time with his step-children and grandchildren, collecting coins and knives, drawing, and loved Indian artifacts. He liked Stephen King movies and books and was a Denver Broncos fan.
Survivors include his wife Christina Juarez of Artesia; parents Jose and Maria Alvarado of Artesia; step-children Javier Florez of Artesia, Aida Aguilera of Artesia, Micaella Martinez of Tatum, NM, Rebecca Florez of Artesia, and Marissa Florez of Artesia; brothers Jesus Torres of Carlsbad, NM, Juan Alvarado of Mexico and Rigo Alvarado of Artesia; sister Maria Wilkinson of Artesia; 14 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
