Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Friday, September 30, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Refugia Sanchez Salsberry of Artesia, New Mexico.
Mrs. Salsberry, 77, died Monday, September 26, 2011 at Eastern N.M. Medical Center Emergency Room in Roswell, New Mexico.
Fr. Paul Murtagh SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Joshua Hutson, John Paul Hutson, Jr., Yule Aranda, Brandon Salsberry,Trey Aranda, Caylan Hutson, and Matthew Martinez. Honorary pallbearers will be her remaining grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. A Rosary will be at Our Lady of Grace Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
Refugia was born July 4, 1934 in Terlingua, Texas the daughter of Miguel Sanchez and Hermila Gandara Sanchez. She was a longtime Artesia resident.
She was a Cook at La Fonda for over 20 years and a member of Our lady of Grace Catholic Church. She aslo enjoyed cooking for family and friends, knitting, sewing, and going to the casinos.
Refugia was preceded in death by her parents, 12 siblings, and her father Epifanio Martinez.
Survivors include her daughters Shirley Salsberry of Artesia, Suzanne Aranda and husband Valente, Jr. of Artesia, and Michelle S. Martinez and husband Eugene, Jr. of Artesia sons Steve Salsberry and wife Barbara of Lynn, Massachusetts, Timmy Salsberry of Mesa, Arizona, and Tommy Salsberry of San Deigo, California sisters Francis, Ninfa, and Rosa brothers Epifanio, Jr., Ismael, and Ervey grandchildren Joshua, John Paul, Jr., Caylan, Steve, Jr., Jeremy, Marc, Michelle, Andrea, Billy Jo, Yule, Candie, Trey, Marilee, Estrella, Brandon, Matthew, and Jacob 25 greatgrandchildren and former husband Pablo Salsberry.
