Refugia Olivas

Funeral services are scheduled for 9:30 a.m., Thursday, December 5, 2019 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Refugia Olivas of Artesia, New Mexico.

Ms. Olivas, 90, died November 30, 2019 at Lakeview Christian Home in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Fr. Frances Lazer will officiate at the services. Burial will follow the services at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Alzado Salazar, Margarito David Baca Jr., Alfredo Gabaldon Jr., Ramiro Flores Jr., Jeremiah Olivas, Luis Olivas Jr., Bobby Muniz, Mercedes Calderon and Gabriel Molina. A rosary is also scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Grace Church.

Visitation will be Wednesday at Terpening & Son Mortuary from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

Refugia was born July 3, 1929 in Clint TX to Marcos Muniz and Mauricia Fierro Muniz.

She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and was a homemaker.

Refugia was preceded in death by her parents, a son Pablo Olivas Jr., daughters Guadalupe Rubio and Olga Olivas.

She is survived by sons Luis Olivas of Temple, Texas, Jessie Olivas, Joe Olivas and Frank Muniz all of Artesia, Pete Muniz of Monahans, Texas and Manuel Olivas of Roswell, N.M.; daughters Mary Gabaldon, Kandi Molina, Janie Olivas, and Sylvia Flores all of Artesia; sisters Aurora Guadian of Casa Grande, Arizona, Apolonia Ornelas of Balmorrhea, Texas, Janie Muniz of Monahans, Ramona Baeza of Lamesa, Texas and Cruz Mendoza of Morton, Texas; 40 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
