R.E. Houston

Memorial services for R.E. Houston, 86, of Lamesa will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 20, 2012, at Northside Baptist Church of Lamesa with Pastor Jason Shipley officiating.

R.E. passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2012 in Lamesa.

R.E. was born on December 28, 1925 in Roby, TX, to L.E. and Julia Medley Houston.

R.E. married Betty Hill on August 8, 1947 in Lamesa. They were together for 65 years.

R.E. served in the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant. R.E. was a deacon at Bryan Street Baptist Church where he also taught Sunday school. He worked as a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Services in Lamesa for 42 years.


He is preceded in death by his parents a daughter, Kim Dowlen a grandson, Tommy Sparrow 4 sisters and 5 brothers.

R.E. is survived by his wife, Betty Houston of Lamesa 2 sons, David Houston and wife Donna of Artesia, NM and Craig Houston and wife Carol of Hico, TX a soninlaw, John Dowlen of Irving, TX a sister, Josephine Simpson of Katy, TX, 8 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be made to a charity of ones choice.
