Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 17, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Raymundo Cardenas of Artesia, New Mexico.
Mr. Cardenas, 88, died Saturday, December 13, 2014 at his home.
Fr. Martin Cornejo O.F.M. will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Richard Ray Cardenas, Matthew Cardenas, Oscar Sanchez, Alijah Gomez, Rodney Olguin, Ezequiel Gomez, and Rodney Salsberry.
Visitation will be at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church Tuesday beginning at 4:00 p.m. A rosary will be at Our Lady of Grace Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
Raymundo was born December 17, 1925 in Slaton, Texas.
He served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
Raymundo was a longtime Artesia resident and on October 13, 1948 he was married to Candelaria Huerta in Visalia, CA. She preceded him in death August 25, 1970. He was also preceded in death by his parents son Raymundo Cardenas, Jr. brothers Tony Cardenoz, Santiago Briseno, and Juan Briseno and a baby son Michael.
He worked at the Waste Water Department for the City of Artesia and was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and the Artesia Lions Club. Raymundo enjoyed fishing, gardening, and loved to spend time with his family.
Survivors include his daughters Christina CardenasDornan of Artesia, and Mary Lou Sanchez of Artesia sons Richard Carenas and wife Teri of Artesia, and Alex Berdoza of Artesia 12 grandchildren 14 greatgrandchildren 3 greatgreatgrandchildren sisters Micki Flores, Rita Dominguez, Marcelina Palma, Erlinda Huerta, and Ricky Salsberry brothers Frank Briseno, Paul Briseno, and Ben Briseno and a longtime companion Elissa Corrales of Artesia.
