Raymond Sterling

Graveside services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 7, at Woodbine Cemetery for Raymond L. Sterling, Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Sterling, 61, died Sunday, January 4, 2004 in Artesia. Rev. J. B. Craft will officiate at the services. Honorary pallbearers will be all employees of the City of Carlsbad Water Department. Mr. Sterling was born August 14, 1942 in Odessa, Texas; the son of William Raymond Sterling and Gwendoline White Sterling. On June 3, 1969, he was married to Jackie Ashby in Odessa, Texas. They came from there to Loco Hills, N.M in 1972. His wife preceded him in death August 9, 1989. He married Patricia Brown in Artesia on August 2, 1995. He was a water department employee for the City of Carlsbad and a member of Loco Hills Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife Patricia Sterling of the family home; step-sons John Poage and wife Heather and David Poage and wife Tammy all of Artesia; a brother Sidney Bell of Odessa; and grandchildren John David, Dustin and Ashley all of Artesia.
