Raymond Jones

Memorial services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 21, at Terpening Son Chapel for Raymond Lee Jones of Lake Arthur, New Mexico.

Mr. Jones, 82, died Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Carlsbad Medical Center in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Rev. Rick Smith will officiate at the services. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening Son Mortuary.

Raynond was born June 16, 1932 in Spaulding, Oklahoma the son of Pat Jones and Willie Mae Tremble Jones.

On January 15, 1956 he was married to Stella Salgado in Artesia. They came to the Artesia area in 1972 from Brownwood, Texas.

Raymond lived in New Mexico for over 25 years. He owned a small grocery store in Lake Arthur for many years. He served on the Lake Arthur School Board along with being a board member for Eastern New Mexico University. Raymond was a very active member of the community which had him involved in the Elks Lodge, a volunteer fire fighter, and the Danny Thomas Fund. In his spare time he loved to hunt, fish, and spend time with his family. Raymond was know for his humor and willingness to help people when in need. He was always ready for an adventure and would show the young ones how to take life by the reins. He was very loved and well respected.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife Stella Jones of the family home daughters Judy Ramsey and husband Roger of Lake Arthur, and Wanda Phillips and husband Tim of Andrews, Texas 2 sisters 2 brothers grandchildren Brent White, Stephanie Fariss, Brad Durham, and Ashlea White and 10 greatgrandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Make a Wish Foundation in memory of Raymond L. Jones.
