Preston Kelley

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, at West Main Baptist Church for Preston Ray Kelley.

Preston Ray Kelley of Artesia New Mexico passed away on Saturday, January 16th at the age of 79. After several months of declining health, Preston died peacefully and is now pain free.

Pastor Jason Kraft will officiate at the services with burial to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Josh Kelley, Matt Kelley, Paul Alvarez, Glenn Kaiser, Johnny Pacheco, Jason Crenshaw, roman Aguilar, George Lueveno.

Preston was born the son of Melvin and Sylvia (Malone) Kelly on September 29, 1941 in Terrell Texas.

Preston was the youngest of 4 children, brother Carl, sisters Mary and Billie. Preston started working as a mechanic at the age of 18.

He met and married his beautiful wife, Darlene Vaughn, June 30, 1961 in Littlefield, Tx.

Preston was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Carl and older sister Mary.

He is survived by his wife Darlene; sister Billie; sons Danny and wife Carmen, and Rick Kelley; grandchildren Josh and wife Heather Kelley, Matt and wife Kiley Kelley, Tyler Kelley and great grandchildren Breelyn, Peyton, Kate, Brexton and Emiliano.

Preston made Artesia his home in 1972 and worked for Guy Chevrolet and the city of Artesia, retiring in 2009. Preston was known for his love of hunting, fishing and camping.
