Piedad Chavarria

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 27, 2020 at Trinity Temple Assembly of God for Piedad P. Chavarria of Lake Arthur, New Mexico.

Mrs. Chavarria, 94, died August 24, 2020 at her home in Lake Arthur.

Eulalio Flores will officiate at the services. Burial will follow the services at Lake Arthur Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Fredie Rivera, Jr., Tony Rivera, Alex Chavarria, Fabian Chavarria, Ethan Ramirez, and Joseph Rios. Honorary pallbearers will be her remaining grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Piedad was born March 30, 1926 in Camargo, Chihuahua, Mexico, the daughter of Estandilado Palomares and Amelia (Casares) Palomares. She was a longtime Lake Arthur resident.

On April 19, 1947, she was married to Jose G. Chavarria in Mexico. He preceded her in death on November 23, 2013. She was also preceded in death by her son Jesus J. Chavarria, 3 brothers, and 3 sisters.

Piedad was a cook for cafeterias for several years before becoming a homemaker when she quit working. She loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughters Lupe Rivera and husband Fred of Artesia, and Amelia Segura and husband Jesse of Lake Arthur; sons Nieves Chavarria and wife Josie of Lake Arthur, Juan Chavarria and wife Josephine of San Diego, CA, David Chavarria and wife Marina of Lake Arthur, and Martin Chavarria and Elida Martinez of Lake Arthur; daughter-in-law Manuela Chavarria of Lake Arthur; four brother, 23 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
