Petronila Acosta

Services are scheduled at 9:30 AM Friday, May 23, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Petronila Nila Acosta, 904 Champ Clark, Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Acosta, 95, died Tuesday, May 20, 2003 in Odessa, Texas, Fr. Paul Murtagh will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Acosta was born on March 25, 1908, in Barancos, Mexico; the daughter of Jose Machuca and Josefa Ramos Machuca. On Dec. 28, 1929 she was married to Jose Acosta in Barancos, Mexico. She came to Artesia in 1947 from Barstow, Texas, He preceded her in death April 7, 1964. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, and Cursillistas. A rosary is also scheduled at 6:30 PM Thursday at Our Lady of Grace Church. Survivors include daughters Olivia Fierro of Odessa, Vaentina Hernandez and husband Benny of Odessa, and Rosie Paniagua and husband Ricky of Odessa; sons Eliseo Acosta and wife Manuela of Artesia, and Frank Acosta of Midland, Texas; 28 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
