Services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 24, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Petra V. Trujillo, 201 N. 41st St., Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Trujillo, 68, died Friday, February 20, 2004 at her home. Burial will follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Runyan, Melvin Runyan, Bill Runyan, Danny Barrera, Louie Barrera, and Gonzalo Perez. Honorary pallbearers will be Manny Barrera, Richard Frazee, Richard Analla, Lionel Vargas, James Carrillo, and David Vargas. Mrs. Trujillo was born May 29, 1935 in Presidio, Texas; the daughter of Francisco Vargas and Angelita Alaniz Vargas. She came to Artesia in 1945 from Presidio, Texas. On Jan. 12, 1957 she was married to Orlando S. Trujillo in Carlsbad, NM. She was a housewife and member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. A rosary is also scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Grace Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Graciano Vargas, Cleto Vargas, and Ishmeal Vargas. Survivors include her husband Orlando S. Trujillo of the family home; sons Eddie Trujillo of Artesia, Frank Trujillo of Artesia, and Freddy Trujillo of Broken Arrow, Okla.; daughter Vikki Hughes of Artesia; brothers Celestino Vargas of Artesia, Silverio Vargas of Mesa, Arizona, Nicholas Vargas of Van Horn, Texas, and Arcadio Vargas of Artesia; sisters Enedina Major of Mesa, and Emma Carrillo of Artesia; grandchildren Erik Monk, Cody Hughes, Jonathan Trujillo, Dakota Trujillo, Colby Trujillo, and Jessica Trujillo; 2 great-grandchildren.
