Petra Cadena

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 15, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Petra Ramirez Cadena of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Cadena, 73, died February 7, 2019 in Artesia.

Fr. Francis Lazer will officiate at the services. Burial will follow the services at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steven Orosco, Javy Cadena, Adam Cadena, Richard Orosco, Richard Rubio, Rogelio Rubio, and Gabriel Taylor. Honorary pallbearers are Janie Orosco, Stephanie Orosco, Larissa Orosco, Sierra Huerta, Virginia Lopez, Cyndi Cadena, Lorraine Rubio and Amanda Orosco.

Visitation will be on Thursday at Terpening and Son Mortuary from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. A rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church

Petra was born January 31, 1946 in Otis, NM to Manuel Cadena and Consuelo (Ramirez) Cadena. On March 10, 1970 she married Tommy Cadena in Roswell, NM.

She was a lifelong resident of Artesia, and a long time nursery attendant where she loved taking care of children. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, volunteered at the Senior Center, enjoyed music, loved to dance and visit with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Trinidad Orosco, Blandina Rubio, brother Domingo Cadena, brothers-in-law Miguel Orosco and Tony Rubio, and by a son-in-law Ismael Villarreal.

She is survived by her husband Tommy Cadena of Artesia; a daughter Michelle Villarreal of Apache Junction, Arizona; a brother Jesus Cadena of Ruidoso, NM; sisters Agricola Martinez of Artesia, and Berena Vasquez of Goodyear, Arizona; grandchildren Anthony Villarreal and Tomasina Villarreal, and great-granddaughter Makenna Marie Villarreal Price.
