Services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 1, at Terpening Son Mortuary for Pearl Elizabeth York, Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. York, 92, died Monday, February 24, 2003 in Artesia. Revs. J. L. Lewis, Gene Lewis, Brett Prince and Terry Pugh will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry Don York, Jr., Brandon York, Brenton Dunn, Gary Harless, Steve Harless, Terry Jimenez, and Irvin Lewis. Mrs. York was born April 9, 1910 in Center, Shelby County, Texas; the daughter of William Jefferson Hyman and Ella Alice Ward Hyman. On January 30, 1926 she was married to Emmett Wallace York in Brownfield, Texas. They came from there to Artesia in 1949. He preceded her in death July 13, 1986. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter Sylvia Shan; a son Carroll Eugene York; five brothers; three sisters; two granddaughters; two grandsons; and one great-grandson. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Mrs. York was a homemaker and worked for Palace Drug for 13 years. She was member of the Lighthouse United Pentecostal Church in Artesia and had ministered with her husband at churches in Dexter, N.M., Roswell, N.M., Eunice, N.M. and Melrose, N.M. She loved to play the piano, sing, and paint. Survivors include daughters Rosa Lewis of Odessa, Texas, Jewel Jimenez of El Paso, Texas, Joyce Harless and husband Bill of Roswell; Virginia Hood of Hope, N.M., Reba Wooldridge and husband Lynn of Hope, and Glenda Dunn and husband Royce of Kermit, Texas; a son Larry Don York, Sr. and wife Phyllis of Western Grove, Arkansas; a sister Wilma Turner of Odessa; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 29 Great-great-grand-children.
