Paula Garcia

Services are scheduled at 10 am, Wednesday, November 29 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Paula Q. Garcia.

Mrs. Garcia, 90, died on November 21, 2023 in Roswell, New Mexico.

Father Vijay will officiate at the services with burial to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Miguel Rubio, Jr., Gabriel Rubio, Harvey Garcia, Arturo Quintela, and Jimmy Salcido. A rosary is also scheduled for 9:30 am on Wednesday.

Paula was born on July 30, 1933 in Redford, Texas; the daughter of Pablo Quintela and Juanita Sanchez. She was married to Aristeo Garcia in September of 1957 in Presidio, Texas. They came to Artesia in 1965 and moved to Lake Arthur in 1970.

She enjoyed gardening, knitting, cooking and keeping her family fed. She loved to read her Bible and was very strong in her faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Josefa Garcia and Maria Cervantes, brothers Daniel Quintela, Manuel Quintela and Enrique Quintela, and also by her children Jesse A. Garcia, Martha Garcia and Ramon Garcia.

Survivors include her husband Aristeo Garcia; daughter Rosa Rubio; grandchildren Miguel Rubio Jr., Gabriel Rubio, and Leticia Garcia; and great-grandchildren Anayeli Rubio, Adrian Rubio, Christian Rubio, Liam and Hayden.
