Paul Peterson

Memorial services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21, at Terpening Son Chapel for Paul G. Peterson of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Peterson, 87, died Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Heartland Nursing Center in Artesia.

Terry McKean will officiate at the services. Cremation is under the direction of Terpening Son Mortuary.

Mr. Peterson was born March 24, 1923 in Carney, Michigan the son of Gustav Emmanuel Peterson and Blanda Christina Gustafson Peterson.

On Aug. 15, 1942 he was married to Joyce Mae Dungan in Menominee, Michigan. He came to Artesia in 1972 from Wallace, Michigan.

He was a maintenance man for Artesia Public Schools.

Paul was preceded in death by parents, 5 sisters, 2 brothers, a grandson, a granddaughter and a greatgranddaughter.

Survivors include his wife Joyce Peterson of family home sons Dennis Peterson of Giddings, Texas, Calvin Peterson of Schweinfurt, Germany, Richard Peterson and wife Sara of Tampa, Florida, Elwyn Peterson and wife Cara of Artesia, James Peterson and wife Becky of LaGrange, Texas, and Glen Peterson and wife Kammie of Mimbres, N.M. daughters Karen Downs and husband Covan of Artesia, Shirley Brander and husband Merle of Hudson Wisconsin, Diane Peterson of Artesia, and Donna Peterson of Artesia sisters Aileen Kusch of Portland, Oregon, Gloria Newlin and husband Norman, and Evelyn Newlin and husband Gordon all of Wallace 20 grandchildren 24 greatgrandchildren and 2 greatgreatgrandchildren.
