Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 5, at Terpening Son Chapel for Paul David Hill of Artesia, New Mexico.
Mr. Hill, 93, died Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Artesia General Hospital.
David Brunson will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery.
Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Thursday beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Paul was born August 8, 1921 in Quinlan, Texas the son of Lonnie Hill and Martha Hogue Hill.
Paul served his country in the United States Army during World War II. His military service included the Aleutian Islands, the invasion at Normandy, Battle of the Bulge, and the crossing of the Rhine and liberating some prisoners of War. He was awarded three Bronze Stars and a Silver Medal with the medical unit to which he was attached.
He came to Artesia in 1945 From Carrollton, Texas. On December 23, 1945 he was married to Neitha Maxine Marsh in Waxahachie, Texas. She preceded him in death July 29, 2014. He was also preceded in death by his parents sisters Gladys Stevens, Elsie Ruthledge, Wanda Jamison, and Donna Byers and a brother Jerry Hill.
Paul worked in Maljamar after moving to Artesia at the Conoco Plant where he was an Operator. He retired from there and then started working at the Salt Water Disposal at Loco Hills. He and his wife loved to travel with his sister Ruth and her husband Herb. Paul was also a 50 year member at the Lovington Masonic Lodge 46.
Survivors include his son Paul D. Hill, Jr. of Odessa, Texas daughter Marsha Gunderson and husband John of Artesia sister Ruth Brown Emmons of Kansas stepgrandchildren Eric Gunderson and Jana Gunderson and numerous nieces and nephews.
