Paul Lasater

Memorial services are planned in Worland, Wyoming at a later date for Paul A. Lasater who passed away on July 30, 2009 at the Artesia Good Samaritan Center. Mr. Lasater was born August 22, 1922 to Fon J. Lasater and Lexie Neeley Lasater in Hornbeck, Tennessee. He joined the Army Air Corp in 1942 during World War II where he was a flight engineer on a PBY that flew air to water rescue. He received the Silver Star, the Air Medal six times and both France's and Britain's second highest military award, and numerous other medals and ribbons. He was credited with 75 missions. He was invited to the White House to meet President Truman upon his return to the United States. He was also nominated for the Congressional Medal of Honor. He was featured in Stars and Stripes a military paper during World War II. On September the 4, 1946 he was married to Betty Jo Rea in Union City, Tennessee. The couple moved to Worland, Wyoming in 1951, where he worked in the oil fields. He owned and operated Lasater's Alignment until 1987 when he retired. He was a member of the Worland church of Christ of which he was a founding member. He was an avid fisherman and hunter in Wyoming, which he named God's Country for it's boundless opportunities to hunt and fish. He moved to Artesia permanently in 2005 because of failing health. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty in 1999, his parents Fon and Lexie Lasater, and a brother, Fon Lasater Jr. He is survived by a son Paul R. Lasater and wife Mary of Artesia, NM, and a daughter Cindy Lasater of Harriman, Tennessee: grandchildren Staci Lasater Molina and husband Eric of Artesia, Sarah Lasater Rogers and husband John of Keller, Texas, Cody Lasater of Fort Worth, Texas, and Scott Moore of Grand Rapids, Michigan; and three great grandchildren, Austin Lasater, Aria Molina and Ella Rogers.
