Memorial services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, at Terpening Son Chapel for Patsy Ann Grooms, 816 5. 6th St., Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Grooms, 64, died Sunday, April 22, 2007 at her home. Pastor Scotty Martin will officiate at the services. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening Son Mortuary. Mrs. Grooms was born February 1, 1943 in Ripley, Tennessee; the daughter of Willie Hilliard and Verna Elizabeth Hummel Hilliard. On Sept. 19, 1961 she was married to Dale Linville in Brunswick, Georgia. In 1971 she was married to Malcolm D. Grooms in Brunswick. She came to Artesia in Sept. 1999 from Portage, Indiana. She was an office manager for an auto mechanic shop. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and watching sci-fi movies. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a grandson Christopher Linville. Survivors include her husband Malcolm Grooms of Brunswick; daughters Terry Hummel and husband Raymond of Artesia, and Laura Bittler and husband Michael of Cleveland, Oklahoma; sons Bruce Linville and wife Jennifer of Portage, Indiana Joseph Linville and wife Gena of Hoboken, Georgia, Richard Grooms of Brunswick, Charles Grooms of Brunswick, and Michael Grooms of Artesia; sister Shirley Long and husband John of Castroville, Texas; brothers Willie Hilliard Jr. of Oklahoma and Thomas Hilliard and wife Judy of Brunswick; 22 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Girl Scouts, Zia Council.
