Patricia Nelms

Memorial services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 12 at Terpening & Son Mortuary Chapel for Patricia M. Nelms of Lovington, New Mexico.

Mrs. Nelms, 78, passed away on August 9, 2017 at her home in Lovington.

Stephen Lord will officiate at the service. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Patricia was born on November 23, 1938 in Carlsbad, N.M,; the daughter of Stanley Leonard Jones and Jonell (Rayburn) Jones. On December 21, 1957 she married Charlie Nelms in Carlsbad. The moved to Artesia in 1975, then to Hagerman, N.M. in 1999 and Lovington in 2002.

She was a College English Professor and also had a photography studio. She was a member of First Methodist Church. Patricia enjoyed photography, painting, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Stanley Richard Nelms, a brother Stanley Jones and a sister Lynette Fry.

Survivors include her husband Charlie Nelms of Lovington; daughters Claire Halsell and husband Dr. Cecil Halsell of Lovington, Elizabeth Nelms and Charlie Nelms both of Lovington; sister Jonell Howell of Austin, T.X.; grandchildren Noah Nelms, Aiden Nelms, Calista Halsell, Joesie Graham and Charlie Mya Lanning.
